Mike Macfarlane is a native of Stockton, California. He went on to star at Santa Clara University and was selected in the fourth round of the 1985 draft by the Kansas City Royals, making his major league debut on July 23, 1987.  He spent 11 of his 13 years as a catcher for the Royals, setting the record for most games caught by a Royal. Known primarily as a defensive specialist with a career fielding percentage of .992, Macfarlane did finish with solid offensive numbers – .252 batting average, 129 home runs and 514 RBI’s. For four years he served as a baseball analyst for ESPN.  Along with former teammate Kevin Seitzer, he owns Mac-n-Seitz, a baseball and softball training academy in Kansas City.
