If you ever compete against Troy Major in a gun-shooting contest, you best bring your A game.

The Friday event at the Ozarks Shooters Complex also was a big score for the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, which drew its largest field – of 211 shooters.
Major fired a 93 (out of 100) in the morning round, winning on a scorecard tiebreaker against Hiland Dairy’s Gary Graves and Steve Kuenz on a John Goldsmith team.

“It’s great. There are so many people and there’s so much camaraderie and people of all different levels of shooting,” said Major, who used a Beretta XL 400. “It (winning) happens, it happens.”
His afternoon teammate, Joe Naegler, won the afternoon round with a 92, winning on a scorecard tiebreaker.
Said Naegler, “A lot of them are master-class targets here. Some are AA, and they had several of them here today, and that’s what kept the scores close.”
