Folks looking for a summer party with shrimp, beer, wine, live music as well as chances to participate in auctions and $1,000 blackout bingo – plus, play a round of golf – will have the chance soon in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame’s big two-day fundraiser of 2018.
The open-to-the-public Shrimp Social presented by Med-Pay, Inc., is set for Sunday, June 3 at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center, while the Springfield Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank will play at Highland Springs Country Club the same morning, with morning and afternoon rounds available on June 4.
The Shrimp Social is open to the public, as a thank you to the community. The event features silent & live auctions – visit bidpal.net/shrimpsocial, which has mobile bidding – and a $1,000 blackout bingo game. The party includes shrimp as well as other delicious foods and a live band, The Techs & The Roadies. Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company and Heart of America Beverage products will be available.
For golfers or businesses, the Springfield Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank is a way to play with a celebrity or entertain clients. Now in its 23rd year, it is the largest charity golf event in Springfield not tied to the PGA Web.com Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.
Foursomes that wish to play June 3 will tee off at 8 a.m. Two rounds are offered Monday – at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. – with celebrities playing this day only. The course host is Highland Springs Country Club, home to the PCCC. The Springfield golf tournament is $1,250 to play, with a threesome paired with a celebrity.
The event includes continental breakfast, lunch, a terrific golfer gift package as well as on-course games, beverages and snacks. Each player also receives a team photo, and trophies will be awarded.
“This will be the 23nd year we’ve put on these back-to-back events, and they are always enjoyable. We have fun at the party and a great day on the golf course,” Andrews said. “We certainly will roll out the red carpet for everybody to show the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame’s appreciation for their support.”
