Sterling Bank now an Associate Sponsor of Enshrinement

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce that Sterling Bank is now an Associate Sponsor of its upcoming Enshrinement presented by Killian Construction.

President and Executive Director Jerald Andrews – along with Sterling Bank Community President Jim Childress – announced the agreement Monday. Sterling Bank has purchased 100 tickets for any former/current member of the Poplar Bluff High School Boys Golf Program.

Mules Golf is among the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame’s induction Class of 2021, set for Sunday, Jan. 31 in Springfield. The Hall of Fame is 501c-3 not-for-profit. Golfers should call 573-686-9840. For additional tickets, call the Hall of Fame at 417-241-1551.

“We are delighted to welcome Sterling Bank aboard as an Associate Sponsor,” Andrews said. “Sterling Bank’s generosity will certainly help us make it a memorable day for Poplar Bluff’s golfers.”

Sterling Bank is now one of six Associate Sponsors of the Enshrinement, which also includes Advertising Plus, Bryan Properties, Great Southern Bank, Hiland Dairy Foods and Hillyard, Inc.

Poplar Bluff has 20 top-four finishes at the MSHSAA state golf meet. That includes six state championships (1938, 1980, 1981, 1988, 1995, 1996). The top fours are the most of any public school in state history and third-most behind Rockhurst High School’s 33 and Pembroke Hill’s 22.

The Mules have been runners-up five times (1982, 1989, 1994, 2005, 2017) and earned four third-place finishes (1986, 1987, 2004, 2012). They also placed fourth in 1939, 1940, 1959, 1977 and 2010. Individual state champions have been Craig Caringer (1980), Brent Pennington (1986), Colby Robertson (1994, 1996) and Tyler Hillis (2004).

The Class of 2021 includes Pat Colon, the former women’s basketball standout at Cape’s Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University.
