The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame’s 25th anniversary celebration revs up this weekend with two major events – including a free-to-attend party featuring sizeable electronic and on-site auctions as well as a blackout bingo game with the winner to receive $1,000.
The Shrimp Social presented by Med-Pay, Inc., begins at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center in north Springfield. The auction can be found at BIDPAL.NET/SHRIMPSOCIAL2019 and includes vacation packages, sports memorabilia and more. Call 417-889-3100 to RSVP.
In addition, the Springfield Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank is Sunday and Monday at Highland Springs Country. Team spots remain available for the 8 a.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday rounds. The Monday afternoon round is sold out. Note that marshals will man par 4 and par 5 fairways.
It’s all part of a two-day fundraiser for the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, a 501c-3 not-for-profit that does not apply for state or federal funding. In fact, this is the 24th year for the Hall’s big weekend, with Great Southern Bank having sponsored the golf tournament every year while Med-Pay, Inc., has been the longtime sponsor of the party.
“The party is our way of saying thank you to everybody who has supported the Hall of Fame, either through golf tournaments, induction ceremonies, auctions or generous donations,” said Jerald Andrews, President and Executive Director of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. “Without such support, we couldn’t have grown over the years. And, of course, we hope the community will support us again this weekend.”
The Shrimp Social features includes complimentary food and beverages as well as a live band, The Techs & the Roadies. Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company and Heart of America Beverage products will be available.
The Springfield golf tournament is $1,250 to play, with a threesome paired with a celebrity. Businesses can also play a foursome to entertain clients. The event includes continental breakfast, lunch, a terrific golfer gift package as well as on-course games, beverages and snacks.
