Scholarship Fundraiser: Tiger Ball & Mizzou Alumni Golf set for Thursday, Friday

Want to win St. Louis Cardinals tickets, getaways to Hawaii or Mexico, or golf clubs? How about sending your child on to an experience with the Mizzou Golden Girls, the national title-winning dance team? You’ll soon have that chance– and can benefit local high school graduates in the process.

The Greater Ozarks Chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association is hosting its two-day scholarship fundraiser on Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5 with the goal to benefit southwest Missouri high school graduates headed to the University of Missouri.

The Tiger Ball presented by Rooney, McBride & Smith LLC and Morgan Stanley-Andy Stewart is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Tower Club near downtown Springfield. Bidding opens soon at BIDPAL.NET/TIGERBALL23.

On Friday, the chapter is hosting the Mizzou Alumni Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank at Millwood Golf & Racquet Club, with 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. tee times. Call 417-889-3100. Each golfer receives a great gift package, including Mizzou apparel, along with continental breakfast, lunch, on-course beverages and snacks – with trophies presented to the winners.

“This event allows us to provide much-needed scholarship funds to deserving local students, and in many cases, is the difference between them being able to attend Mizzou and not,” said Greg Cole, President of the Greater Ozarks Chapter. “Your generous support of this fun event has allowed our chapter to fund nearly $350,000 dollars in local scholarships over the years, and create an endowment that will continue to give back to our community well past our years of service.”

The auction features silent and live auctions. In the live auction, up for bid will be a Michael Kyle fishing trip on Lake Taneycomo, a duck hunt, as well as sports tickets – including to the St. Louis and Springfield Cardinals. The Golden Girls, inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in February, are donating an all-day experience for a youngster. A TaylorMade driver and irons also are up for bid, along with golf at Highland Springs Country Club.

Getaways to Hawaii and Mexico also are in the live auction.

The silent auction includes numerous items, including gift cards to restaurants and attractions.
