Wayne Rudy was a trainer for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1960 to 1983. His service to the Chiefs saw them make three AFL championship teams and two Super Bowl teams, which included their Super Bowl IV win. He reportedly oversaw 4,000 practices and 474 games. Rudy was known for always being there for the players; he reportedly never missed a game, a practice, scrimmage, or minicamp.

Rudy was also instrumental in founding the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) in 1950 when about 200 athletic trainers met to discuss the future of their profession. He also served as the organization’s director twice and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1974.
