The Kansas City Royals’ all-time saves leader, Montgomery enjoyed an impressive 12 year career with the club. His 304 saves ranked him ninth in Major League Baseball history upon his retirement in 1999. The Royals Hall of Famer leads the club in all-time appearances with 686 and his career hits allowed per nine innings (8.05) is also at the top of the club’s record books. During his best season in 1993, he posted a 2.27 ERA, tied for the American League lead with 45 saves and won the AL Rolaids Relief Award.
