Ginny Fuldner accomplished the ultimate in the world of amateur sports at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where she won a gold medal in the 400m freestyle, which she also recorded a new Olympic record. In addition to her gold medal at the 1964 games, she won a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke.

She has also won four national championships: twice in the 200m backstroke, once in the 100m backstroke and once in the 1500m freestyle. She has also competed in the 1963 Pan American Games in Sao Paulo, Brazil and won a gold medal in the 400m medley relay.

In 1965, she traveled to Lima, Peru as an ambassador of United States swimming. A native of New Jersey, she was inducted into the New Jersey Sports Hall of Fame in 1975 and the West Orange, New Jersey Hall of Fame in 1989. In 1985, she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
