Cliff Hagan was born and raised in Kentucky, where he was a high school All-American. Hagan took his basketball skills to the University of Kentucky. He was a two-time All-American and helped the Wildcats win 86 of 91 games during his career. Included in his collegiate career is a 1951 National Championship under legendary coach Adolph Rupp.

Hagan began a highly successful NBA career with the St. Louis Hawks. In 10 seasons, he posted 12,433 career points in 672 games and played in five NBA All-Star games. Hagan played on the St. Louis teams which claimed six division titles. In 1958, Hagan teamed with Hall of Famers Ed Macauley, Bob Pettit and Med Park to win the World Championship by defeating the Boston Celtics.

In 1977, Hagan was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and in 1988, inducted into the National High School Sports Hall of Fame.
