Hall of Fame to honor Jerald Andrews on October 11

The Governing Board of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce a special night honoring the career of Jerald Andrews, the Hall of Fame’s longtime CEO & Executive Director.

Andrews, 70, recently stepped aside after 27 years leading the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, as well as the PGA Korn Ferry Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

“An Evening to Honor Jerald L. Andrews” is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11 at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center in Springfield.

The Governing Board unanimously approved the ceremony. That evening, Andrews will be honored with the President’s Award, inducted into the Hall of Fame and later in the evening will receive elite status as a Missouri Sports Legend, complete with a bronze bust.

“The Board felt like honoring Jerald with this special night was something that had to be done,” said Kris Conley, Chairman of the Governing Board. “Recognizing a man that spent the biggest part of his life recognizing deserving individuals and organizations as well as helping raise millions of dollars for local charities was an easy decision. It’s going to be a great night for a very special man!”

Longtime Board member Bryan Magers, founder of Bryan Properties, hopes the community recognizes all of Andrews’ work. Under his leadership since 1995, the Hall of Fame has been an enormous success.

More than 1,200 individuals, teams and programs have been inducted, and the Hall of Fame has grown from one Enshrinement a year to nearly 60 events annually. Those include fundraisers for the Price Cutter tournament, in which Andrews has raised more than $17.5 million of the $18.4 million that’s been gifted to Ozarks children’s charities since 1990.

“This is a wonderful, well-deserved honor for Jerald,” Magers said. “If you ever mention Jerald’s name at athletic events in the state of Missouri, they know the great job he’s done at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. He’s got the respect of all the individuals he has inducted. And Jerald has been a great asset to Springfield, Missouri.”

Tickets to the event can be purchased by calling 417-889-3100. Various sponsorship levels are available, which includes your listing on the bronze Legend plaque. Individual tickets are $150. A sponsorship table of 10 is $1,500. The evening will feature a number of speakers, as well as video tributes.
