Congratulations to winners of Mizzou Alumni Golf Classic

Teams sponsored by Gene Lafaro and Embark Staffing won their respective rounds in the Mizzou Alumni Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank on Friday at Millwood Golf & Racquet Club.

The event capped a two-day fundraiser of the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association, with the chapter to gift scholarships to University of Missouri-bound students from southwest Missouri.

Thursday featured the Tiger Ball & Scholarship Auction presented by Meyer Farms and Meyer Communications at the DoubleTree Hotel in Springfield. The evening included chapter President Greg Cole presenting Dan Nelson of Kutak Rock with the Tiger Booster Award.

In golf, more than 40 teams turned out Friday.

In the morning round, the team of Gene Lafaro, Brian Cauldwell, Jack Cauldwell and Brandon Cauldwell fired a 52 to win the A Flight. Winning B Flight, with a 62, was the John Best team that also included Tom Guy, Jason Meyer and Troy Kennedy. C Flight’s best score, a 65, belonged to the group of Beezley, Beezley and Shive – a team featuring Robert Beezley, Spencer Beezley, Byron Shive and Scott Jenkins.

In the afternoon round, an Embark Staffing team of Chase Banta, Mitch Barber, Nick Sheppard and Adam Lotz won A Flight by firing a 53.

B Flight’s top score, of 61, belonged to the Jackson Brothers of the South team of Dwane Tawney, Dewey Cooper, Scott Crosby and Nick Branham. C Flight’s top honors went to a team sponsored by Wendy’s/Sam, Juen and Mike Hamra. The group of Chuck Oraz, Josh Sloan, Nick Adams and Dagan Cobb carded a 66.

A team sponsored by Sue Carrol Terry and including Barb Mitchell, Gloria Crumpley and Judi Phillips won the Women’s Division.
