In his 48th year of coaching high school football, Paul Martel has an impressive 285-105-12 record. Martel began his career coaching at Immaculata High School in Leavenworth, Kansas and at St. Agnes/Miege High School in Kansas City, Kansas before beginning a 29 year stint at St. Louis University High School in 1959.

During his tenure at St. Louis University High School, he led his team to six state playoffs, two state semi-finals, one state championship, 17 top ten finishes, 21 first team All-State Players, 2 Pro-Players and eight Bi-State Championships. In 1988, Martel coached the St. Louis Gamblers, a semi-pro football team, to the Semi-Pro Super Bowl Championship, from 1989 to 1994, he was the assistant coach at Washington University and he is currently an assistant coach at Vianney High School.
