Dr. Glenn McElroy began working with the University of Missouri Tigers as an orthopedic consultant to team physician Dr. James Baker in 1951, then succeeded him in 1977. In 1991 he took on the title of emeritus team physician. He was a charter member of the Missouri Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame, received the NATA President’s Challenge Award in 1993, and was doctor-of-the-year as selected by the Boone County Medical Society in 1989. He was inducted into the University of Missouri Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996, and the University of Missouri’s athletic training center is named the “Dr. Glenn L. McElroy Sports Medicine Center” in his honor.

McElroy also was one of the founders of Columbia Orthopedic Group in Columbia, Missouri.
