New venue for Tiger Ball & Scholarship Auction

With growing interest from folks eager to raise scholarships for southwest Missouri graduates heading to the University of Missouri – more than $125,000 has been generated in recent years – the annual Tiger Ball & Scholarship Auction presented by Meyer Farms, KWTO & KTXR HD is moving to a larger venue.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 4 but now will be held at the Oasis Convention Center, 2546 N. Glenstone Ave. in Springfield. The event kicks off a two-day fundraiser, with the MU Alumni Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank to follow on May 5 with morning and afternoon rounds at Millwood Golf & Racquet Club.

The President of the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the University of Missouri Alumni Association, Andy Stewart, and Jerald Andrews, President and Executive Director of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, announced the venue change Monday. The two-day fundraiser has been a boost for southwest Missouri graduates attending Mizzou, and the chapter two years ago also launched an endowment fund.

This year’s event features cocktails, dinner, The Techs and Roadies band as well as an expanded silent auction (with mobile bidding) and a nice live action. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tables of eight are $300, and an individual ticket is $40. Special ticket packages are available for both the Tiger Ball and the MU Alumni Golf Classic.

For the MU Alumni Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank, golfers can enjoy either 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. tee times. The event includes a new women’s division along with continental breakfast, lunch, a terrific golfer gift package, on-course beverages and snacks as well as trophies to winners. It’s $750 for a team of four, or $175 for an individual.

“We hope the community will get behind this great cause,” Stewart said. “It’s truly given deserving high school graduates a chance to have success at Mizzou.”
