Pat McBride has long been referred to as Missouri’s Father of Soccer for his contribution to the sport of soccer in the state of Missouri.

McBride was a member of the United States Olympic Team in 1964 and the United States National Team in 1968 and 1972. In 1967, he was the first American assigned to the North American Soccer League. Throughout his career, McBride represented the United States 55 times in International Competition. McBride was also a member of the St. Louis University National Championship teams in 1963 and 1965 and received All-American honors in 1964 and 1965.

Pat McBride played soccer professionally with the St. Louis Stars from 1967 to 1976. During his tenure with the Stars, he was named a NASL All-Star three times.
