Inductees

June 7, 1924—January 6, 2011

Jack Roberts, a Drury standout in the sport of basketball, is the first Drury athlete to be inducted into the Drury Hall of Fame not only for his athletic success while at Drury, but also for his contributions to society after his graduation from Drury.

Jack graduated from Drury on May 30, 1949 following a standout basketball career that included a NAIA national tournament quarterfinal appearance in 1947. His college career was followed by a 36-year coaching career. The biggest part of that time he was the head basketball coach at Springfield’s Glendale High School before his retirement in 1983.

At Glendale from 1963 to 1984, Roberts never had a losing season, won seven regional or district titles and five Ozark Conference championships. He also was head coach of Glendale’s 1982 boys tennis state championship team.

Overall, he won 601 games as a boys basketball coach.
