Harold Ensley – The Sportsman’s Friend. A minnow bucket would hold the television shows that have lasted 4 years, much less 4 decades. 1994 marks Harold Ensley’s 41st consecutive year on television, a feat few have matched. Beginning in 1953 and for the next 21 years, Ensley’s weekly, half-hour, outdoor program was seen 52 weeks a year. This translates into 1,104 telecasts, no reruns, in eight Midwestern states and was among the first in the area to be televised in color.

As one of the world’s foremost freshwater sport fisherman, Harold Ensley’s career has left a wake of accolades, such as: World Champion of Freshwater Sport Fishing; named National Freshwater Fisherman of America by Argosy and Outdoor magazines and Athlete of the Year by Kansas City Night of Sports; and induction into the National Fishing Hall of Fame.
