Born: December 8, 1943

Born in 1943 in St. Louis, MO, Gus Otto attended McBride Catholic High School and was a well rounded athlete. Upon graduation, Gus was awarded a football scholarship by Dan Devine and the University of Missouri. A standout linebacker for the Tigers, Otto was the team’s captain during his senior season. He earned All-Big Eight Conference and Third Team All-America honors following the 1964 campaign.

Otto was selected in the 1965 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders and Head Coach Al Davis. After a stellar rookie season, he was named to the All-AFL Rookie Team. Otto helped guide the Raiders to Super Bowl II against the Green Bay Packers. Otto retired after starting every game of his eight year career in Oakland.
