Edward Henry Osiek played football, basketball, baseball, and track at St. Charles High School from 1932 to 1936. After high school, he played minor-league baseball from 1936 to 1938.

Osiek began his career as a sporting goods salesman in 1940 in his father’s business, Economy Sporting Goods, in St Charles. He later worked in sales for Jerry’s Sport Shops in Kansas City, Missouri for 10 years, then briefly for Bleyer’s Sports of Carbondale, Illinois, and for Curt Smith Sporting Goods in Belleville, Illinois, and then for his own company, EDBE Services of St Peters, Missouri.

Osiek served in the US Army from January 1944 to October 1944.

He co-sponsored the Economy Fenton Baseball team from 1975 to 1980.

In his sports officiating career, Osiek called basketball, baseball, football, and softball games, working until 1998.

In 1991, Osiek was inducted into the Missouri Basketball Hall of Fame, and in 1998, he was inducted into the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame for umpiring.

His career spanned more than 58 years.
