1974 Southwest Missouri State University National Championship Softball Team
Led by Coach Kay Hunter, the Southwest Missouri State softball team steamrolled through the nation during the fall of 1974. The team went 19-4, and posted a 4-0 record in the Missouri AIAW Championship. It then went on to compete in the national meet in Omaha, Nebraska, where it won five straight games to claim SMS’ first national championship by a women’s team.
