Polo, Missouri native Mark Curp had a stellar career at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, where he starred multiple times in NCAA cross country and track. Curp twice earned All-America honors on the NCAA Division I level. Mark’s greatest achievement came on September 15, 1985 in Philadelphia when he broke the world record for the half marathon at 1:00:55. It remained the American record until January 14, 2007. In 1987 and 1988, Runner’s World magazine ranked him the number one road racer in the world.
