Born: November 2, 1940

A native of Detroit and a graduate of Michigan State University, Ed Budde had an impressive 14 year career with the Kansas City Chiefs. A first round draft pick by the Chiefs in 1963, Budde went on to be a significant part of the Chiefs’ success in the AFL-NFL Championship Game in 1967 and the Super Bowl Championship in 1970 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Budde, known as “Bluto” to his teammates, was selected to play in six All-Star Games, two All-Pro Games, was named Lineman of the Week in 1968, was named to the American Football League All-Time Team, and served as Co-Captain of the Chiefs in 1975. Budde was inducted into the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame in 1983 and was named to the All-Time Kansas City Chiefs 25th Anniversary Dream Team in 1987.
