Winners announced in MU Alumni Golf Classic

OZARK – The foursome of Jeff McCurry, Bruce McCurry, Randy Herion and Adam Lotz turned in the lowest score of the annual MU Alumni Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank, firing a 56 to win the afternoon A Flight on Friday at Millwood Golf & Racquet Club.

The event capped a two-day fundraiser as the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the University of Missouri Alumni Association raised scholarship dollars for Mizzou-bound southwest Missouri graduates.

In the other afternoon flights, Scott Smith, Justin Wagner, Chad Broderson and Trey Peck fired a 64 to win the B Flight. The group of Bill Francis, Chuck Banta, Mike Patton and Joe Richter won the C Flight with a 66.

In the morning round, the foursome of Tim and Christie Blasi, Marc Kiser and Dawn Mihlfeld won A Flight, firing a 57.

A Price Cutter Supermarkets team of Rob Marsh, Bill Stroup, Dave Sweaney and Ron Calton won the B Flight, firing a 64, while a Heart of America Beverage Company-sponsored team won C Flight. The HOA team of Ryan Marquess, Rick Mcamis, Ryan Wheat and Tommy Lynch fired a 66.

Meanwhile, Sue Carrol Terry, Barbara Mitchell, Judi Phillips and Mary Skiles won the event’s inaugural Women’s Division, firing a 64.

In the morning contests: In long drive, Brandon Jasper won the 44-and-younger division on No. 2, Doug Benefiel won the 45-64 age group on No. 14, and Mike Nelson won 65-and-older on No. 18. Ron Roper was closest to the pin on No. 15.

In afternoon contests: In long drive, Christie Blasi won the Women’s Long Drive, John Hedgpeth won the 44-and-younger on No. 2, John Maupin won the 45-64 age group on No. 14, and Sue Carrol Terry won 65-and-older on No. 18. Closest to the pin on No. 15 was Randy Herion.
