Springfield Celebrity Golf Classic winners announced

Teams representing Great Southern Bank, Sechler Electric as well as Heim, Young and Associates scored top honors in the Springfield Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Great Southern Bank, one of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame’s largest events of the year.

The golf tournament concluded a two-day celebration as the Hall of Fame held its annual Beach Party Bingo and Auction presented by Med-Pay, Inc. on Sunday at University Plaza Convention Center.

A Great Southern Bank team featuring Mike Pippin, Josh Dupy, Chris Lawson and Brandon Bass won the A Flight in Sunday morning competition, shooting a 53 at Highland Springs Country Club.

The Sunday morning B Flight winners were James Wilson, Rex Wright, Tim Lane and Gary Goetz with a 64. The Sunday morning C Flight winners were Michael Bechard, Ryan Marquess, Chad Murray and Carl Cunningham with a 67.

The Sechler Electric team of Danny Downs, Jim Keltner, Bill Collison and Bill Smith fired a 57 to win A Flight of the Monday morning round.

Winning B Flight was the team of Chad Smith, Matt McDowell, Bill Kirkey and Brian Roberts by firing a 63.

Winning C Flight was a team led by former Kansas City Chiefs great Eddie Moss. It featured Josh Johnson, Brad McCollum and Jim Loper with a 67.

Monday afternoon round

Heim, Young and Associates – featuring Dennis Heim, Mike Zimmerman, Craig Peterson and John Morgan – won the A Flight on Monday afternoon in the Celebrity Golf Classic by firing a 56.

A team led by West Plains native and longtime Texas Christian baseball coach Lance Brown won B Flight with a 62. The team consisted of Mike Tennant, Randy Magers and Bob Roberts. Brown was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame this past January.

The team of Kelly Cook, Jacob Nelson, Jerry Bronnenberg and Lee Clark won the afternoon C Flight with a 66.
