Frank White is undoubtedly the greatest fielding second baseman to play baseball. He won the Rawlings Gold Glove award eight times, the most by an American League second baseman and tied for the major league best with Bill Mazeroski of Pittsburgh. White was named Royals Player-of-the-Year twice, 1983 and 1986. He played in five All-Star Games and was named to the All-Major League Team in 1978 by The Sporting News and the American League Silver-Slugger team in 1986, signifying the best hitters in the league at their respective positions by The Sporting News.

White was the Most Valuable Player in the 1980 ALCS, going 6 for 11 with a home run, 3 RBI and 3 runs socred in the three game sweep of the New York Yankees. He earned AL Player-of-the-Week honors for the week of July 30 – August 3, 1984 by going 8 for 21 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI. He received the Ernie Mehl Award at the Kansas City Baseball Awards Dinner in January of 1988, which recognized a baseball figure who has contributed greatly to the overall image of baseball both on and off the field. White holds the club record for career grands slams with six, consecutive games with an RBI with 11 and shares the club record hitting for the cycle, twice.
